This is an adorable book store in the historic town of Hanapepe. Right next door is the Lilo and Stitch Mural. The bookstore is quaint and lots of books, new and used. There are lots of rare and out of print books as well. This is a must see if you’re in town. They also have other items like records and one year I saw old videos games as well.

It’s an independent bookstore in Hawaii…how could it be bad? Seriously, though, I am a bookstore nerd who loves to collect local books as vacation souvenirs. When I read about this lovely bookstore being the furthest western bookstore in America, I had to seek it out while my family was visiting Kauai. It did not disappoint! There were both new and used books, a great collection of sheet music, fun gifts and stickers. The shop cat was asleep during our visit, but I couldn’t resist buying a cat sticker from his owner. Also found a great thriller based in Hawaii that one of the shop keepers recommended. Definitely check out Talk Story Bookstore when in Kauai. The town it’s in is quaint and fun to check out as well!

#IwasHere. So fun we stopped here after having been deterred from going to the canyon by the rain. Such a lovely place and they have a lot of selection my friend got a book by an author from Kauai and I got some stuff to read on vacation. Great prices, Great selection. Great souvenirs. Great art. Adorable little bookstore. If you're a book nerd, this is worth the stop. Casual book lovers may only spend 30 minutes. A real book lover may spend hours! Pet the Boss Cat while you're there!

The Talk Story Bookstore is located in the vibrant town of Hanapepe. It’s pretty cool being the westernmost bookstore in the U.S. Small little independent bookstore with lots of local finds, gifts for reader enthusiasts, and plenty of books to read while soaking up the island charm. We always stop in when visiting Kauai.

Once a year I fly from my island of Oahu to Kauai. We’re in a car eat a country breakfast on my way to the bookstore. I get there for the 10:00 AM opening and brow shop till closing always Friday, which is artist day and it’s like a party, I go for the vintage books. The owners were delightful people who always treat you fairly … great vintage books. Just a great refreshing experience..
