This was our first time in Kona and this was our first activity of the day. We did a guided morning kayak tour. Frank at the shop was so friendly, informative and just an overall great guy. Steve on the other hand was exceptional. My wife and I were the only ones booked that morning, so we were fortunate enough to have a private tour with Steve. He was very knowledgeable and he knew a lot of interesting historical facts about the bay and the monument. The snorkeling was also amazing. We were able to see a variety of fish. My wife and I had an overall great time and we would definitely recommend booking a kayak tour with the team at Kona Boys. You won't regret it.

Fantastic experience from check in at the Kona Boys storefront to the end of our guided tour in Kealakekua Bay! Evan and Steve were gracious guides and kept us company the entire tour dropping knowledge on us about the history of the bay and Captain Cook.

Snorkeling by the Captain Cook monument was mesmerizing and such a cool experience. My wife and I enjoyed every moment of the tour. We were even lucky enough to have multiple sightings of spinner dolphins!

I'd highly recommend Kona Boys for all experience levels of kayaking and snorkeling. They will take great care of you!

Mahalo! ?

We had a blast with Bam and Mike! Very personal, very knowledgeable- enjoyed the history and what’s happening currently to save the place and surrounding environment. Everything worked well, snorkeling was terrific and the kayak ride really chill. Highly recommend this trip!

Our favorite spot in the Islands to snorkel is Kealakekua Bay - we rented from Kona Boys more than 20 years ago and did again earlier this month. We enjoy doing it on our own and the other outfitters on the bay were booked.

We stopped by the Kona Boys shop and booked a double kayak for the following day. The rep (sorry I don't recall his name) was friendly and helpful. The next morning we arrived and one person had the kayak mounted on top our rental car in no time while the other person provided helpful info for our trek.

The dry bag and the cooler were appreciated and put to good use. We especially liked the paddle leashes (something we miss on other outfitters' kayaks).

And it was easy to use their mounting system and get the kayak down in the water and back up again. We will happily use Kona Boys again on our next trip to the Big Island.

Unforgettable Kayak Adventure with Kona Boys

We had an incredible experience with Kona Boys on their kayak expedition across Kealakekua Bay to the Captain Cook Monument. Our guides, Bamm and Steve, delivered absolutely world-class service, making the trip unforgettable from start to finish.

The bay itself is stunning, and kayaking across the pristine waters was both relaxing and exciting. Once we reached the monument, we had the chance to snorkel in some of the most vibrant and clear waters we’ve ever seen. The marine life and coral were breathtaking!

Bamm and Steve went above and beyond, providing lunch, drinks, and water for us to enjoy after snorkeling. Their knowledge of the area, combined with their friendly and professional but casual demeanor, made the experience truly top-notch.

This is a 10/10 adventure that we would recommend to anyone visiting the Big Island. We’d happily book with Kona Boys again.

We had such a great experience with Kona Boys. Everybody was so friendly, from when Evan met us at the main shop and got us fitted for a gear and Steve gave a fabulous tour. It was so much more personal than the tours that arrive in the big boats. We did the morning tour and were able to have the reef almost to ourselves. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We had the pleasure of taking the morning kayak/snorkeling excursion with Evan as our guide. The Kona Boys guided tour was the highlight of our fully stacked trip! Evan is extremely knowledgeable about Big Island and gave us a heavy dose of Hawaiian history. We learned about Captain Cook, conservation efforts in Kealakekua Bay, and the geography of the Hawaiian islands. As a New Yorker who’s afraid of the ocean, I felt like I was in good hands the entire time. Evan talked us through getting in and out of the kayak and let us know our boundaries while snorkeling. My husband and I had a heck of a time. Thanks again for the tremendous amount of aloha we were shown. Mahalo and until next time!!!
