In Kauai a couple weeks ago and husband decided he wants a ukulele. He had heard of the reputation/history of this store and I will say they did not disappoint.

The gentleman who helped us was super informative, and went through all the various options/let us test different instruments to find the perfect fit. They shipped it home for us and we were so happy to unpack it last night. My husband plays bass and is ready to start working on uke right away. I play (well, learning to play) drums, but it looks so fun and is so portable/lightweight I may start fiddling around with it myself!

We are happy to have such a beautiful instrument that we know will last for years. Highly recommend this shop! They also had a beautiful selection of Tahitian pearl jewelry and some other Hawaii-themed gifts - even if you're not looking for musical instruments the shop is worth poking into to take a look around.

I think about my visit to The Komoa Store in August almost on a daily basis. As someone who is surrounded by musicians daily and interact with hundreds of different musicians a week, I have heard many rather judgemental opinions of the ukulele. That it's a "silly instrument" a "child's guitar" that people "have ukuleles, then they grow up".... as an adult who has been playing the ukulele for 12 years, I will usually keep the fact that it's my main instrument to myself. I felt quite alone in this. But now if ever I feel alone or hear another bad opinion of this beautiful instrument, I just think back to the time I walked into The Kamoa Store, and didn't need to say a word to be understood and had finally been in a place where I felt like I belong.

To anyone else reading this review I couldn't recommend this store enough. The selection of ukuleles is among the best in the world, but the heart of the people running the store is the best in the world. They are involved, helpful, honest, and they truly care about finding you the perfect instrument. Go visit them when you can.

Incredible experience. Passion and knowledge are in no short supply at the Kamoa Store. I came to visit the island and hoped I'd find the right Ukulele for my ear. Subsequently, I made several trips into the store, every visit Sam and his family were playing music, perfecting instrument set ups, all while encouraging every person who walked in to pick something up and play. Whether it was a curious first time player interested in their first instrument to lifelong musicians building their collection, the encouragement and enthusiasm was palpable and unwaivering. No instruments from the entry level ukuleles to custom Komakas were off limits to curious ears, yet at no point was a sale pushed, just a no pressure guide to the right fit for the player. I've been in countless instrument stores over my time playing, this is one is truly a rare gem in a world with decreasing supply that shouldn't be passed over by anyone who appreciates the love and passion of a musician through and through.

What a beautiful store! You feel the Aloha spirit within seconds. Sam had the perfect ukulele for me. He knew exactly what I need. I‘m from Switzerland and had since several years a cheap ukulele. Now I got a upgrade. I bought it 2 weeks ago and I’m still happy.

**ULTIMATE Ukulele experience on Kauai. Family owned and loved. What a surprise to find from 11am to 2pm Ukulele lessons with Sam to make you fall in love with the enchanting sound and melodies. His passion is contagious about learning the proper playing technique to set you up for success with your ukulele (not just selling one). My only regret is not having more time to spend learning and playing with the best! Thanks so much Sam and his family who make buying a ukulele one of my favorite memories of the island.

We were completely amazed at the experience of coming here. Not only was it the coolest Uke buying experience we have ever had but it was an educational experience as well. The quality of the Ukes was absolutely the best and they stand behind all their Ukes like no other place I’ve seen.
