Koana is a niche coffee shop,I love how Brian created this store. It’s a coffee lovers paradise with great choices of coffee beans available for you they make pour overs and hot chocolate.
This isn’t your average coffee shop they serve no dairy no nut milks. Coffee is their star ingredient and all the offerings are just around it various beans the selections.

There is a reason this place is 5 stars. The craft coffee is phenomenal. We got light brew coldbrew and the lava shot (spicy chocolate espresso shot). The man running the shop clearly loves his job and what he does. He was super welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable about what he was making and selling. This place is a true coffee lovers gem tucked away in east Hawaii.

This place is a true hidden gem that’s “bean” named best coffee shop in food and Wine magazine in 2022. Such passion for coffee is shown. The owner talks and describes everything for you and breaks things down in a way that you get it. I’m not much a coffee person and was talked through various options and settled on a delicious espresso tonic. My wife is more the coffee drinker and enjoyed her ‘red wine’ aged coffee. Highly recommend to stop here.

This place is a gem between Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. If you love specialty coffee this is the place to go. This is probably one of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to. They have around 8 different types of specialty coffee from the Big Island ranging from light to dark roast. You can smell them before you choose which one you want. They do pour over. The prices are definitely high and they vary depending on which type you choose. I went two days in a row and decided to try two from Paradise coffee. My favorite was called champagne. It was light and fruity. I really enjoyed it! The next day I tried the red wine blend and it was also delicious, it was actually the same price as a glass of wine in some places (around $12+ tax). But if you really enjoy coffee as much as I do it’s definitely worth it. The baristas are super nice and the place is so cute! I would recommend sitting down and enjoy the cool atmosphere. One of the baristas gave us a sample of the hot chocolate, it had a lot of spices and it was pretty good. But I’m not sure I would drink a whole cup because it’s a bit too spicy. Another good thing about this place is that it’s right next to a famous bakery with yummy mochi donuts — the perfect complement for coffee.
