I was really anxious about finding a wedding day outfit that felt like me. I rarely wear dresses/skirts, so I was dreading going to a wedding dress store and trying to make something work. When I was searching for creative wedding attire, I came across Lei’s work and was so excited to find a queer designer in Indy!

Though I’m originally from Indy, I’m currently living elsewhere and I was so impressed by how seamless the design process went while being long distance. I flew into Indy twice for fittings and we had a handful of video calls and chats as we were figuring out the design. I always felt comfortable, listened to, and cared for. I’m so grateful for their presence and kindness each step of the way, even when the design was changing or my measurements changed.

The design itself was such a joy to bring to life with Lei. I fell in love with an outfit from a sci-fi show (last photo on this review), and Lei turned the inspiration into my dream outfit. I now have 5 separate pieces of clothings that are beautiful, feel amazing, and that I can wear again and again. It was so special that compliment that I received the most was “wow this is amazing and so youuu!” Lei really helped me feel like myself on my wedding day (well, myself with an extra bit of glamour and confidence 😉).

There was one change needed a month before the wedding, and being long distance, you’d think that’d be stressful, but Lei was so responsive and provided a quick turn around. The wedding outfit was the most fun and least stressful part of my wedding planning experience. I highly recommend working with Lei, whether you’re local or not.

Finding out that Indy was home to a queer owned, inclusive, and body positivite fashion house was honestly mind blowing! The experience of working with Lei Breton on my custom jumpsuit for my queer wedding back in October, was beyond incredible! Lei is so skilled and creative, so it was a real treat to get to be a part of the give and take of their design process. They made me feel so heard from mock-up to final fitting. Most notable of all, they took the time to make all the adjustments that added up to the best fitting/most beautiful peice of clothing I've ever owned. As a queer/nonbinary, neurodivergent person, I couldn't imagine a more perfect fit than House of Breton.

Redesigning my mother's wedding dress with Leila was an absolute dream! Not only is she super knowledgeable about sewing and bridal design, Leila makes sure you feel heard at every step along the way and comfortable with how the dress fits on your body no matter what your size or shape. It was also such a comfort knowing my wedding dress was in capable, caring hands. Leila treated my mother's dress with such care, saving all the fabric so we could use it for other aspects of the wedding (like for my groom's lovely custom bowtie that she also made). As a curvier girl, my wedding dress was one of my biggest anxieties pre-wedding. It's just so hard for those of us with "squishy" bodies to find a true fit, unbias service and things that represent our personality.

Every moment from the first meeting with Lei to the last was done with respect and care. Not only were they able to capture my complex desire to be both a woodland nymph and to look put together the way a good Capricorn should, but they never, ever once made me feel as though my body was something to be shamed or covered up.

They listened to my insecurities, my hopes, my wedding planning struggles with active care. Lei provided advice and comfort when needed.

There was not a single guest that did not comment on how amazing my dress was!

Leila is the genius who owns Curvy Custom Bride in Broad Ripple. And girl , let me tell you,she is Amazing! Please, if you are a bride treat your self to the empowering experience of making your own dress. Forget those lame bridal stores with overly fluffy dresses on racks that could careless about catering to the needs of bigger women. Leila understands the need of the plus size bride. She’s knowledgeable and kind and patient ( and FUNNY 🤣Dress fittings are a blast!) I got to choose every single detail about my dress and the end result was beautiful, comfortable, perfectly tailored piece of art work I will cherish for ever. Thank you Leila for listening and making my dream come true. 10/10 I recommend her to Any and everyone!

There is not enough time in the day to express my gratitude to Leila. From day one, they were welcoming, collaborative, and knowledgeable. We worked together to create something that was so true to me. And Leila brought it to life. One thing I didn’t realize throughout the process is how seemingly tiny changes can make such a huge difference, whether it’s making a sleeve a half inch longer or pulling a seam in a centimeter. Throughout all of the minute changes Leila never made me feel like I was asking too much. No change was unimportant, and they were affirming throughout the entire process, truly caring as much as I did about getting it perfect. Getting a custom piece was the best decision I made, aside from the decision to marry the love of my life in it! Seriously, the suit was a close second

I cannot say enough good things about Lei! My wedding suit pants had to be ordered a size too small due to inventory and they were able to work absolute magic to get my suit fitting perfectly. It was such a good experience, and the prices were very reasonable. I'll absolutely be back for any future alterations I need.

I cannot say enough great things about my experience working with Lei. I had wanted something different than a typical masculine look for my wedding, and working with Lei helped me realize my vision of having a suit and cape while making me feel secure, confident and valued. Their virtual fitting option helped significantly as I did not live nearby where I could come over for a fitting, and they responded promptly to all emails I sent. They were also incredibly flexible with making changes, even at the final fitting stage where I decided I wanted more length added to the cape I eventually ended up wearing. Overall, Lei is a consummate professional, always positive, and always affirming. I will be recommending the House of Breton to anyone I know who is interested in a beautifully crafted, custom outfit. The suit and cape ended up fitting perfectly and everyone was blown away, including my spouse! Thank you Lei!
