As someone who has spent a great amount of time in Bloomington growing up and throughout college, I've heard really great things about Evil by the Needle. On my last trip when visiting family I wanted to have some of my nose piercing jewelry changed and I thought this would be a good place to go, which I'm not seeing it wasn't.

Overall, the facility was very clean and there was a decent jewelry selection. But my interactions with the person that changed out my jewelry were kind of weird. They kept asking me who did my initial piecing (All of which were done at a dedicated piercing studio in Ohio where I used to live) and they commented multiple times on how weird the placement was (I've had my jewelry changed to other places and nobody's ever commented on a placement of a hole that's already in my face).

They successfully changed the jewelry, and I'm happy with how it looks. But overall I just feel kind of weird about the amount of times that they told me that the placement of my holes already in my face was not ideal, when I am happy with them.

I have lots of friends in Bloomington who have gotten tattoos done here and piercings done here, and everyone has been really happy. So I think overall, this is a great place. I just personally had a slightly uncomfortable experience.

Make sure that you make an appointment ahead of time.

I did check their jewelry selection online, and there was a nose stud piece that I was very interested in and it said they had them in stock (it was the lil fern one) however, when I got there less than 24 hours later, I was told that they haven't had that one for a while. I was still able to find a piece that I'm happy with, but I was a little bummed that they didn't have the exact piece I was looking for.

The cleanliness was excellent.
Parking was a little challenging because there were only a few spaces behind, so I parked at the building next door and just walked over.

I wouldn't say that the entrance to this building is wheelchair accessible as there is a lip to get in, but inside it's quite spacious.

I've only been to Evil for tattoos by Kaylea Elliott, no piercing services or other tattoo artists. I absolutely cannot recommend Kaylea enough! I've gotten three pieces done by her (two custom designs and one flash design) with more booked! Her style is super cool and unique, nothing like I've ever seen! She is SUPER nice and made me feel heard if I had any concerns or questions about anything at all. Very gentle and not heavy handed which is always appreciated. Super flexible when I mentioned my allergy to adhesives of second skin and gave me cling wrap instead for every tattoo. Very easy going and doesn't show any annoyance or on edge feelings ever, and her tattooing space is super comfortable and welcoming. When I got my sternum tattoo, I was super comfortable during the entire process and not worried about being exposed. Kaylea is definitely a person behind the artwork, and not even comparable to other tattoo artists I've had in the past at other locations! STERNUM NOT PICTURED FOR PERSONAL REASONS

I’ve been going to evil by the needle for years and always have the absolute best experience when I’m there. I can 1000% say I would not trust another place more with my piercings. I went today to get my septum done and was extremely nervous. Sarah took such amazing care of me and eased my nerves as best as they could. Sarah was professional, clean, and completely transparent about the entire service. Sarah walked me through every step and made sure I was 100% sure before proceeding. Super thankful for this team!

Went to Sarah to get a vertical Lip piercing. She is through with sanitation, informative & takes time to answer any questions, she's experienced & confident. She did such a perfect job, it's straight, it didn't hurt & surprisingly my lip didn't really even swell up! She did such a great job, I booked another appointment before I even left from that one! Went today for my 2nd this time a dermal. Same experience. Faster, cleaner, smoother, prettier & less painful than other experiences! Definitely this is the place to go for a piercing!

The first time I went there, I called them for a nose piercing; everything was fine besides a minor inconvenience. However, I called again to schedule a jewelry replacement, and the person hung up on me. I'm pretty sure it was the same woman on both calls, but I wish she had been more helpful in helping me schedule a new appointment since j was clearly lost.

Jaime is such a gentle piercer, they have done several for me and all were well placed and healed with no problems so far. The shop has a great selection of jewelry and the waiting room is gorgeous. The prices for piercing with this quality are extremely reasonable

Piercings were good, but pricey. After paying online $138 to book the appointment, I arrived and was surprised to be charged $30 per earring on top of that. So another $144.82 with the steri wash. At that point, when finding out the cost of the jewelry, it is too late to back out, or you are charged for not canceling ahead. They have you over a barrel here. Had I realized it would cost $282.82 just to pierce my earlobes, I would have gone elsewhere.

Updated to address shop reply: The cost of jewelry needs to be more transparent up front. Nobody would expect to get eight separate charges for two pair of earrings. It isn't customary to pay for the front and back separately or each earring in a pair separately. It is understandable how this might catch people off guard. A little price transparency would go a long way to avoid bad reviews. The current practice is a bit unethical.
Aside from price the experience and piercings were fine.

Went to them for a double nose piercing and nip piercings by the apprentice Lillee. The place was very clean, calm and chill. They played awesome music too. During the appointment I was nervous but Lillee was very knowledgeable and cool. They really took their time with my piercings to make sure they were even and perfect. I love the outcome and am very happy with my piercings. Thanks you guys are awesome!
