Gillman Home Center

Elizabeth Maxie

Normally I think Gillman home center is the best place to get a propane refill but after today I’m going to find somewhere else to fill my propane. I went in and was ignored by the cashier as she was asking a customer in front of me personal questions after the completion of their transaction. When the customer stepped aside the cashier was very rude asking me “do you need something?” When I informed her I was there for a propane refill she used a walk-in talkie to let someone know that I was there for propane and then I waited over 30 minutes for an employee before I went back in to see the employees standing around talking to each other. After I informed them again that I needed propane they acknowledged me and I went back outside where I waited another 15 minutes for help before I left. Overall the service is rude and unprofessional. It should not take an hour to get a propane refill.

Looking for products online is pointless. Look under Lumber on the site and they only have 4 items in stock……someone needs to manage their inventory better. Current stock of available products needs to accurately reflect on the website or people just go elsewhere. Common Sense. And this has been an issue for Do It Best for as long as I remember. Create a website, but don’t put in the effort to ensure that it accurately displays current inventory of products…… almost like the team said at least we have a website, that’s good enough.

Prices on lumber and supplies are equal or better on most stuff than nearest big box. Keep it up, shopping local is great.

Took forever to get a propane tank filled but other than that it was all good

Very nice store with a great variety of items in stock and decent prices!

When Gilman came to town, I was excited hoping for a more local place that hopefully would not be as overpriced as the existing lumber/hardware store in town. Boy was I WRONG!! $11.00 for a tube of silicone!!!!! I should’ve continued a half mile down the road to the farm store and purchased the EXACT same product for 2 bucks less…..I know it’s only two bucks, but that is one example for one product. Fool me once, shame on you….I WILL NOT be fooled again.

They are clean, tighty, and helpful, friendly staff. Has a good selection of what I need. They have become a great addition as a hardware, various tool rental, and lumber store to our town. It has kept me from having to make an extra trip to the big box. Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards.
