My favorite vintage store I have ever been in! Spectacularly laid out and so much thought and care has been put into this store. Loved the Alice and Wonderland theme - it truly feels like you are going down the rabbit hole.

Linda made me tea and you get to sit and enjoy in the Library. So special! Found a few jewelry gems and a beautiful vintage book.

This one is in the top 10 favorite antique stores for sure! So many wonderful things hidden in this shop in a sleepy town. Owner graciously knocked off a few bucks & wrapped it up so nicely 🙂

Very neat antique shop! The owner is a very kind, fun lady. She greeted us and told us everything she had in the store. Very neat old vehicle in the back. Lots of old cameras, clothes/hats, jewelry, etc…

My daughter and I drive out from the IL/IN border to Mt. Carroll at least twice a year specifically to visit Ideas & Designs! There are amazing, unique finds here along with friendly, caring hosting provided by Linda and Len...with Magic barking out a greeting, too! I love the library room--one of my favorite finds is an old fiction book with a beautifully decorated cover. But that's not all--it includes half a dozen old postcards written to the person who must have owned the book in the 1940s! Viewing this historic town is worthwhile as well. You should visit!

This is a very cool store with tons of things to look at but unfortunately they are extremely overpriced as many antique stores are. You may find that "Once in a lifetime" item you've been looking for, just be prepared to pay for it.

If you like antiques and rare items, I highly suggest you visit Mad Hatter Ideas ‘N Design Antiques in Mt. Carroll. It is such a neat place. My daughter loves vintage clothes and was elated with her purchases. We were there for an hour and a half and I guarantee that we still missed seeing so many great finds. The owners are magnificent! Unbelievable customer service! They took such special interest in my family and the other customers in the shop. We will be back for sure! If you go, make sure to say hi to Magic their darling dog!

This store made my day. I was passing through Mt. Carroll and just decided to stop by. What I found was an amazing antique store, large selection and high quality as well. The owners were super nice and willing to bargain on price. The building itself is really something to see. Owner said it used to be a furniture store and it still have the original deadweight elevator!

I was there last fall and enjoyed the experience so much that I want to go back. I would go this Friday if they were open as we are driving in for dinner at Molly's and then to see the show at Timberlake Playhouse, but I can understand them only having weekend hours. We will still be back on a Saturday or Sunday. Definitely worth it, and the owners are so nice.
