JL Records has both the widest selection and best organization of any physical media store I have ever been to. I was able to find anything I could've ever dreamed of. With the wide array of cds and all the interesting vintage media and electronics on the wall, I could have spent all day in this place. JL Records has enough to bring tears to a grown man's eyes!

I haven't been in JL Records since 1991, and wow is it great to see it still going! My friends and I stopped in here every week in high school and while we were at Purdue. We bought a ton of AC/DC, Ozzy Osborne, Iron Maiden, etc. stuff that we probably all still have. This was THE place to go for concert tickets, too, back when there was no such thing as online and they printed your tickets on little blue and white papers. Wish I could remember the owners name at the time (John?). He was like a music encyclopedia. I bet he thought we were idiots for buying stacks of Posion and Ratt CDs, but he hid it well. Great memories!

JL’s motto! BUY low SELL high!! Skip the drive and just go over to Discogs if you want to be ripped off.

Vinyl isn’t a high margin business, but the way they nickel and dime both the buyer and the seller isn’t tenable in the long run.

JL Records is the definition of what it means to love music. The staff has a strong knowledge of what they have in stock, as well as a strong care for their customers’ taste in music. You can expect to spend an hour or two here browsing around, and you will for sure walk out with something. Definitely support JL records as they have supported my love for music.

Today I needed my fix for some 70's Prog Rock and was not disappointed! JL is a great source for a huge variety of music and I've found some hard to find movie here as well. Knowledgeable and friendly staff! This is my go to store for vinyl in Lafayette.

I picked up a couple classic vinyl albums from the 70’s, and a 45 single from 1982. Very happy with the price and selection at JL Records. A TON of CD’s there also, but I’m kind of getting back into classic vinyl now. It was my first visit today, and I’ll definitely be back!

It was so hot in the record loft that we were sweating. We typically spend a couple hours in record stores browsing. Not this one. I don't think we even started 30 minutes.
The cashier's had zero interest in that information, no personality, and were a bit on the rude side.

Many records were way over priced.

We won't be back here anytime soon.
