I recently had a very disappointing experience with Madison Avenue Pawn in Daytona Beach, FL. After trying to engage with them professionally, I received an incredibly disrespectful response, which included a rude gesture directed at me (as seen in the attached image).

This level of unprofessionalism is shocking and absolutely unacceptable for any business. Rather than addressing my concerns or attempting to resolve the issue, they chose to respond with hostility and blatant disregard for customer service. It’s clear that they have no interest in helping or treating customers with respect.

If you’re looking for a pawn shop that values its customers, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. This shop does not reflect American values of respect and courtesy. Save your time and avoid the headache – Madison Avenue Pawn is not worth it.

Prices overall in this section of Florida seem to be very high, much higher ($200 - $400 higher or more) than what a comparable item can be purchased for elsewhere or online. For example, I recently bought a like new SKS for less than $375 OTD, prices for SKSs in this area have sticker prices for $600 - $800 (or more). This seems excessive considering online prices are rediculously high to begin with (and continuing to skyrocket as online sellers insist on asking the highest asking price they've ever seen listed for an item, not the average cost the items have actually recently sold for).
This store had an item priced similarly (e.g., higher than the cost for a similar item online). I talked with a store employee to ask if the price was firm. The employee asked what I would offer, I pointed out the lower online prices and offered a lower price. I didn't offer $200-$300 less than they were asking, but about $70 less.The employee talked with the owner, who apparently felt slighted and gave a counteroffer $30 higher than the original price. My advice to him (in the interest of customer service) would have been to just politely say the price was firm.
Well, it's his store, he knows his clientele better than I do and what kind of prices they're willing to pay and what kind of service they'll accept. But I do wonder if his clientele knows how much above average online prices he is charging.
I understand that a local store can't match price a bigger dealer like Cabela's or Academy Sports, but at least one reason why Gun Stores are fading away is dealers who won't price competitively and get their feelings hurt when someone points out their prices are too high,
I know I won't go back to this store, and I would recommend others to avoid it.

Hands down best firearm and Ammo selection in all of Volusia county if not Florida. Very friendly staff and make you feel like family. Love seeing a mom and pop store still around with reasonable prices!

Iv been a customer with Mason Ave Firearm and Pawn going on about 10 years and I v had to do business both ways, (buying and selling) and they always help me the best a pawn shop can. Great prices to shop there they carry anything you need, very respectful, I feel like a n actual customer when Im there, unlike the other shops that take advantage of hard times people are going through. They will be my number one.
