I wish I would have read reviews before going here. If your selling clothes I would not recommend Once Upon A Child in Syracuse. I spent last weekend sorting through 9 totes of girls clothes from size newborn-3T. I sold the 3T tote for $100 via marketplace. I spent roughly 8 hours over the course of two days sorting by size and style into organized 27 gallon totes. I brought 8 FULL totes to Once Upon A Child on Friday 10/18/24 around 11:30. I drove 1.5 hours from Clayton. I brought roughly 800 pieces of clothing, shoes, accessories to the store today, again all sorted and organized, laying flat in totes. I am 4 months pregnant and was accompanied by my 10 year old daughter. We carried all 8 totes into the store without any help. Not one employee even offered to help. Just stated as I made 8 trips to my car and back. I shopped the store while they went through. I expected them to take a couple hours. In less then 45 minutes they had gone through and picked what they would purchase. They only purchased 136 items for less than $200. I should have requested to see what they choose to purchase But instead I just said okay and completed my own purchase of some items. After making a small purchase of $91 I left the store with $106 cash and almost all of the clothing I had brought in. All clothing was stain free, well maintained and recently washed. While sorting last weekend I tossed stained and warn items. None of my clothing was any older or warn out than the clothes for sale on the shelf. Again, I lugged the 27 gallon totes out to my car myself, 4 months pregnant, with no offers to help. If I would have known that was how the process would go I wouldn’t have let them rummage through the totes I spent hours organizing. I have these totes listed on the marketplace with lists of what each tote contains and now I have re-sort to figure out what is left in each to update correctly. I was at least expecting to get $100 a tote (about $1.00 per piece of clothing). Each tote had roughly 100 pieces of clothing. I drove all the way home before peaking in the totes. That was a huge mistake. I stood standing and crying in my driveway trying to re-sort and organize each tote according to size. There expect you to bring clothes in organized and then just throw it back in however they want. They also seperate outfits by only taking the pants or shirt. They didn’t even go through the entire newborn tote. I could tell how it was left untouched compared to other totes. I was so upset I called and asked to speak to a manager. I wasn’t expecting anything but wanted to let them know how upset they left a pregnant woman. I got to speak with the manager Courtney. She states my stuff was to old to purchase, and that they did go through everything because she was one of the people to look through it. I told her I disagreed; and she either hung up or we got disconnected. I just left it at that. I would not recommend taking clothes here to sell. They should advertise that they only buy clothes less than 2 years old. They are very selective and don’t take much. I took pictures when I got home of random items, not old, not damaged, not stained or warn. I left the store so disappointed and even more frustrated once reviewing what I ended up bringing back home with me. Not worth the 1.5 drive. After I spent $50 on gas and $25 on lunch I dragged 8 totes of over 800 pieces of clothing for a measles $25. I see other people recommend the New Hartford store. I will have to give it a try. Including photos of “old and warn” clothes they wouldn’t purchase, some of which were never even worn by my kids. My youngest born in 2020 so clothes are 4 years or less “old” and exactly the same style of things I saw in store. In fact once in the sweaters I saw the exact same being purchased in the store by a customer but the store didn’t purchase mine. They are too picky and choosey and again I DO NOT recommend wasting your time bringing items here.

I went shopping at this particular location for the first time (10-27-21) an was very impressed! It's much bigger than the one in Henrietta and the aisles are wider, an the clothes are always in great shape. There was a great selection of shoes an toys. I got everything on my list an the cashiers were friendly an outstanding in courtesy. I will be back !!!

They give you pennies on the dollar for stuff I take brand new stuff with tags on it they wanna offer you $2 but then wanna sell your stuff for double the price then if they don’t buy they got the most dumbest excuse. They literally turn down stuff took it to another place and they accepted with no problem

This is the second time I’ve brought clothing to this location and they told me my clothing had pet hair on the items. The snow pants had been freshly laundered and the rain jacket was under 3 years old.
Decent prices for a used store but their criteria for accepting gently used clothing is bogus! There is zero per hair on these items and as stated both are under 3 years old.

Love OUAC Syracuse! I'm always greeted with a "Hi, how's it going?," they layout of the store is easy to follow while shopping, the staff are friendly and personable, and they always have great sale events that are reasonable for any budget. I haven't sold too many times, but when I have, I've had no complaints. It's a fast and easy system and I get a decent amount of cash for what they can accept. The prices and quality of clothing make it effortless to buy my boys a new wardrobe when they change sizes.

Buying here is good. Selection for younger kids is great. Once you hit 3T, the selection drops off significantly. Selling here isn't worth the effort. I brought in probably 50 pieces of clothing ranging from 6m - 2T. No rips, stains, or visible wear, and well washed. They took 2 pieces of those for an amazing $3. I go back each season to buy clothes, but when outgrown they are donated. Store's staff has always been pleasant and helpful. The one time we needed to use the bathroom, it was clean, had a good diaper changing station, a toilet shorter/younger kids could get on with minimal help, and a good amount of toilet paper and soap (the public toilet details you never cared about until you had kids).
