Have to wait for the repair, but if you have quality items to preserve, upgrade or repair, there's none better. It's a little hidden gem near Forest Ave, but tucked on Stephens Ave. So happy to wait for a slight tear fix on an Italian made sling bag. Excited to put it back in rotation in a few months. Happy.

Roy's shoes is a staple of Portland small businesses. They're always welcoming and provide a much needed service. I blew through town for a family gathering and they were able to get my Doc Martens looking shiny and new.
I'm sure we'll be back soon! Thank you guys so much!

Called ahead and spoke with a pleasant gal about these well-built, US-made military boots. The heel is too exaggerated and was looking to resole the Vibram and shave the foam down under the heel for something a little more natural.

I'm not sure why we couldn't get an answer by looking them up while on the phone, but okay: I made the drive in, and then waited a while for the main guy to come over -- presumably Dan.

He looked at it for two seconds and said, "Naahhh, I don't work with that," and that was it -- no, "Gee, I'd sure like to help you out," or "Hey, thanks for coming in today" or anything human or helpful, just waved it off as trash he wouldn't waste time on.

Cool. I've had *great* success with getting two pairs of brogues fully recrafted with Wyatt & Dad Cobbler Co. in NC, and they have turnaround times of about 6 weeks whereas "Roy's" here said they couldn't *start* them till 3 or 4 months out.

Sounds like "Roy's" has more than enough on their plates. So. Maybe give Wyatt & Dad a follow on social media — they have a nice collection of videos about their work, and a lot of beautiful photos to drool over and dream about. I'll tell ya: Once I can part with these Bellevilles after the slush is gone, that's definitely where I'm sending them.

Here's a story...I had a Louis Vuitton classic bag which the zipper broke on. I took the bag to an LV store in Chicago. They sent the bag to their Artisans in Italy. It took almost 2 years for them to return the bag with no fix. So crazy that LV gave me a substantial credit. They sent the bag to a local, non LV artisan. This people also took months and returned it incomplete. Roy's was recommended by Pete Donatelli and HOLY COW, the bag was repaired flawlessly under 3 months.

If you haven't been to Roy's, you are still sleeping and haven't woken up.

This place deserved 100 stars! Well done..Bravo!

Not totally sure what's going on here, but the guy gave me an estimate of $160 to re-sole a pair of shoes that I bought for $70. I talked to another shoe smith, and he said that seemed absurdly high. It seemed like a rip-off. The guy at Roy's, however was very friendly, and seemed competent.

This is a nice family owned shoe repair store. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with familiar pleasantly pungent smell of leather; it was glorious. I was then greeted with a smile by both the owner and his daughter who, upon my arrival, thanked me for coming into the store.
With my worn out doc martens sitting on the counter, they explained to me the problems in which I had encountered. Road salt had seeped into some of the leather, making the toe creases expand and crack.
Not only did they tell me what they would do to fix my boots; but they also explained some helpful home remedies I could use to prevent the same issue in the future.
The cherry on top was the pricing which I assumed to be around $30-40. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was informed it would be less than half of my estimated price.
I have yet to pick up my boots, but I have the utmost faith and respect that they will come out of the shop good as new.
Thanks Roy and Family. Keep up the good work.
It’s family owned places like this that help make our country so wonderful. Thanks again.
