I usually find this store to be fine in a pinch, but after my recent experience, I won’t be using their online ordering service again.

I placed an online order for pick-up yesterday—something we don’t typically do but we were out of town, then had to work late, and one of our kids was getting surgery - life. My husband went to pick it up, but no one answered the phone when he called upon arrival. He had to go inside, where he encountered a group of unhelpful teenagers managing the orders. Oddly, they microwaved the rotisserie chicken from the deli before handing it to him—completely unnecessary and off-putting.

When he got home, we realized several bags of groceries were missing. While a few items were marked as “not found” (including ground beef and American cheese surprisingly), the rest appeared to be clear oversights.

Trying to get a refund through the app was a hassle. Because the missing items totaled around $70, I had to call customer service, who then had to verify everything with the store because it was over $50.

Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience. Definitely not worth the convenience.

I was in the Arnold Maryland store on Easter Sunday to purchase some items. I have shopped in this store for over 30 years or more mostly out of location convenience. I like most of the store employees I have met there and even help bring in shopping carts when there are none inside just because it feels good to help.
I found an item on the shelf with a shelf tag that said 75% off, I read the tag and the description matched although I am unfamiliar with their number system. I took it with my other items to purchase and it rang up regular price. A guy that works there was walking by and I kindly mentioned the price issue to him, his response was “ that item would probably never drop to 75%off” I suddenly felt uncomfortable as if he thought I was lying. I asked him to check the tag on the shelf and he just blankly stared at me so I went over to get the tag myself. I read the tag again and the description read the same as the product as far as I could determine. So I took the tag up to him at the self check out. He took the tag and glared at me and said “that’s not the same item.” Then he once again just stared at me. I feel as though he could have been much more help and/or understanding. His demeanor was unfriendly and unhelpful, I told him I didn’t want the item and he could stick it “back on the shelf” He proceeded to take my remaining merchandise from me physically and said he would not be disrespected by me and to get out of his store! I was shocked to say the least, I asked for a manager and he said that he was the manager. I left the store shaken and annoyed but went to GIANT and was treated well and saved a few dollars. I am still annoyed and disappointed by how I WAS TREATED at the store I have shopped at for so many years. I would think that SAFEWAY associate would have worked a bit to help me rather than question my honesty, send me to get the tag off of the shelf and then not offer me the product at that price OR at least explain what I was misreading AND THEN to physically take items out of my hands and cart and tell me to leave. Later that day I called SAFEWAY corporate TWICE to voice my complaint and was told I would receive feedback within 24 to 48 hours and disappointingly never received any call, text or email. I’m only one person and they certainly won’t go bankrupt if I stop shopping there BUT I have been sharing this story with everyone and anyone who will listen. Thanks for the very unpleasant experience SAFEWAY.

Someone is always in reach to help look for something and they make sure to keep the ice cream stocked. In fact all their shelves stay stocked. Good job guys and gals!!

You have to review your receipt because the price listed in the aisle is not the price on the receipt they constantly word for charged you also holy oldies the fruit section is the fruit fly kingdom and it's been this way for the last 10 years plus.

Thanks for the reply, please prioritize fixing your pricing system, it sucks to have to take photos of what it is marked at in the aisle so we do not get systematically over charge by you. My mom has actually stopped shopping here because of how prolific the issue has been. I just go now if I don't have time to stores with out pricing issues. Like it happens 1 out of 2 trips.
