I have been into Thunderbird many times over the past 30-odd years and bought quite a bit of touristy stuff to give away at home. The last time I was there the people behind the counter were so rude that I immediately turned around and left. I was their only customer... I'll never set foot in the place again - there are too many other souvenir shops up and down Sudderth... (I normally only give good reviews on Google...this is a rare negative...)

While there working the southfork fire I didn't have time to get a souvenir. I called after I got home and asked if they would send me a shotglass for my collection. They said yes and I paid the bill. The next week I received my shotglass package and it far exceed my expectations. Great experience, great people.

Definitely a touristy place, get a mug with “ruidoso” on it or a keychain, a ceramic lizard? Dream catchers, ruidoso sweaters, even hot sauces and jellys, jewelry, shoes, but you can’t bring drinks inside and they need help, the guy at the counter told us to put our drink on the counter to look around and we did but he didn’t really provide too much service except scanning my mug, and he didn’t tell us the price until we asked him..

The minute you walk in the guy started in with the mask wearing. I am only able to wear a mask a few minutes at a time, so I hurriedly picked out two postcards to send to my grandchildren and walked up to pay for them. When I went to pay he asked if that was all (as if he couldn’t believe that I wasn’t getting more) and I said yes that was it and please just tell me how much so I could pay and get out of there. He acted as if I had insulted him personally when all I wanted was to get out so I could breath. Just a side note: some of us in the high risk group who are older people with asthma & high blood pressure have already had COVID and survived it. We are quite capable of deciding whether we need a mask or not. Even after the mandates are done, I will not shop here again, but will remember those shops who were welcoming.

Worst service ever. My 10 year old child bought two obsidion arrowheads and the cashier (Britney Clement) over charged him. Instead of charging him 2 for $3, she charged him $3.00 each. I asked her to please fix it and give him his money back and she refused, saying there were no refunds or exchanges, and said that he could just pick out something else in the store. I pleaded with her that he didn't want anything else from the store and that she should fix her mistake. I asked that she get a manager, and I was told there wasn't one in the store, and then she immediately raised her voice at me, telling me I was being rude, and that if I don't leave the store she was going to call the police. Absolutely disgusting. So basically she forced my son to spend more money than he wanted to.

Short haired lady told me there are no open drinks allowed in the store, which was fine, I put back the $25 shirt I was about to buy and left.
