I am a bit confused about whether this is or not two step beach. Google map navigated us to this location, but first sign we find (see photo) states that this is NOT two step beach.
It was high surf day, so the waves were bit higher than normal. Still lots of visitors.
There was a pod of dolphins hanging out in the bay and swimming very close to snorkelers. You actually get a better view from shore than in water.

It's best for snorkeling. You enter off the rocks down two steps (hence the beach's nickname)- I think the real name is Honaunau Beach.
They are trying to bring back some more of the coral and ask you to be careful - don't stand on the coral and if course use sunscreen that is viral friendly.
There are loads of fish.
There are porta potties (not super clean) and picnic tables.

Beautiful beach area with clear water flowing through the lava rocks, you can see little fish and crabs. Great for sunset too. There’re a few parking spots right in front of the beach and porta potties. More parking spots can be found at the nearby state park.

I am so thankful we decided to go here! I would definitely rate this one of the best places to snorkel on the Island. Even though it was very busy, it wasn't over crowded. We saw many fish and a couple we saw here and haven't seen anywhere else. When underwater you can hear the dolphins playing with each other.

This had awesome snorkeling! The area has minimal parking. A local has opened up his property for parking and charges $5. The snorkeling location is found in a residential area.
It has portable bathrooms and trash bins so that you don't litter. Please don't litter. There isn't much area that has sand, in fact the area is all lava rocks. Make sure you bring protective water shoes, reef safe sunscreen, food, and water. Oh and your snorkel gear....you will not regret it. I thought the area was better than Captain Cooks Monument! It was crowded while we were there but everyone had a space to sit. There were a few pick-nick tables there, but unnecessary.

Awesome location for snorkelling, lots of fish and beautiful beach. Gets pretty crowded but everything is still ok. Getting in to the water can be tricky from the point near the red cones, slippery and sharp lava rocks.

Great snirkeling spot!!! I guess it is. Called two step beach because the rocks at the front of the beach form two steps into the water... this is 100% guess 🙂 The water from the steps is about 10 ft deep, but very clear. You can see a lot of yellow fish, parrot fish, etc. It was as good as a paid snorkeling tour I went out from Maui (Molokini).
