I looked forward to my first visit to a "real" shoe store in quite a while. This was my first experience with Waxberg's. I found a pair of Dunham waterproof shoes that fit me perfectly and am very happy with them, so far. The salesman, Lou, asked if I wanted to try on his favorite New Balance athletic shoes. I saw that they are the exact same as my previous 4 pairs of the athletic shoes. I asked for a size 8.5, 4E. Lou went in the back and said they were the only 8.5 4E and they don't get many of this size. I tried them on quickly in the store and they seemed okay, but I only had them on for a few minutes. When I wore them for the first time a few days later, they started to hurt my feet after about a hour. When I got back home I realized that Lou lied to me and gave me a 8.5 2E instead of 4E. Of course, I had already thrown the box away. When I called the store to complain I was told that without the box there was nothing they could do.

About a week ago I submitted a 2 star review. I will not review my complaints here. I only mention it to let everyone know that the store manager called me to apologize for the issue and to resolve my complaints.

Bert is the store manager. I was a bit hesitant at first, but ultimately I was amazed that Bert went way beyond my expectations to make me a very happy customer. I have never experienced this level of customer service and will recommend Waxberg's.

Yesterday I went to Waxbergs with hopes of buying booties. I have been here many times before and always spend a decent t amount of money. I was greeted, and asked what I was looking for. When I stayed I needed a wide boot, I was told look around but we don’t have many. I was never asked to sit down for sizing. He never mentioned getting anything he thought I should try . Only asked to look around. After 20 minutes I left and bought 3 pairs somewhere at another specialized shoe store. Here I was greeted, sized and the salesman brought me all kinds of options.

Irwin took good care of my wife and I. My point for walking over to the store was to find a well fitted shoe that supports my weight while holding up to wear and tear for a while. So far, good. With Irwin's help we discovered that I've worn shoes two sizes too small for years! I am happy with the experience and we purchased some brooks athletic shoes. Stability and lining in the Beast GTS '23 created a comfortable shoe that doesn't roll on my foot with any looseness. They are well cushioned without becoming hot and sweaty to bear. They are a tad too heavy. However, I gladly part ways with super light for a more solid feeling and well built sole. I'm utilizing these specifically for gym wear.
We were given a few options to try on that day, and Irwin was patient and supportive with my questions. Thanks again! These shoes are good quality, and I'll be back for more use cases.
Still looking for a similar construction that tolerates wet late Fall-winter-early Spring weather conditions, yet it is the same experience as the Beast GTS for outdoors or trail wear, hmm ?

A great experience and people who know shoes are helping you. The old school full service shoe store is alive and well and thriving at Waxbergs! The greatest review question is whether or not I would go back and my answer is absolutely YES! Great environment, great quality shoes to select from, and great service to help you find shoes that are best for you.
